Overview

If you prefer web applications, you should take a look at Aren Vision which we launched in April 2026. This is a cloud-based payroll application that is available as a subscription service. It follows the same tried-and-tested design as Aren Payroll, but adapted for the web.

Doing the payroll on Aren Vision is intuitive and you will find it easy to get started. Once you enter details of your organisation and employees, you will get all the internal reports and external returns that you may need.

For example, you can:

• Generate payslips, payroll muster roll and payroll control account.
• Generate reports on individual earnings and deductions, e.g. basic pay, overtime, pension contributions and staff loans.
• Generate reports for making payments to pension funds, SACCOs and insurance companies.
• Email payslips and P9As directly to employees.
• Download salary payment files in the format required by your bank (more than 40 formats available).
• Download return files for PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, housing levy and fringe benefit tax.

What's New

In June 2026, we released an updated version of Aren Vision after making the following changes:

1. Implemented co-operative contributions and co-operative loan deductions.
2. Added option to calculate staff loan repayments with equal principal payments.
3. Automated computation of Tier II NSSF contributions paid to private pension funds.

In August 2026, we released a second update after the following changes:

1. Added ability to suspend employees from the payroll.
2. Added support for insurance premium payments.
3. Implemented insurance relief for qualifying premiums paid privately or through the payroll.
4. Added a fringe benefit tax report and an iTax return file for low interest staff loans.
5. Changed the employees roll to an annual report to complement the leavers report.
6. Made it possible to filter payroll reports by administrative unit or station.
7. Improved the appearance of emails sent by the application by changing the format from plain text to HTML.
